Many thanks to you all for getting back to me on your preferred day of the forthcoming meeting which will now take place on Thursday of this week, details below:

*If coming by bicycle you can find some sheffield type stands to the left of the nearby Premier Inn at *the back of the car park.

Ian Keetley, our Sustrans Volunteer Co-ordinator will be attending also so it will be great for him to meet you and you to meet him finally after being in the post for around a year and for you to put forward any questions you may have.
Ian will be coming in the mid afternoon and as a newcomer to Grantham I'll be showing him some of the towns routes etc, I'll be meeting Ian at the Rail Station at 15:15 so your very much welcome to join myself and Ian before attending the meeting.

The meeting will be very much open but will hopefully give us time reflect on what we have been doing in the last year and to try and establish a plan for the year thinking about the workdays, signing rides, future meetings and events we attend and to hear more from Ian on the developments of Sustrans volunteers in the area.

I-Spy

Have you spotted the new grey boxes on NCN 15 and link routes around Grantham. These are a new up to date version of the ground based box which can still be seen on some town routes that collect data on the cycle movements on the path.

There are 5 so far, see if you can locate them or find any more. Hint!

Group Meeting

Now our new calendar year is starting to take shape I think it might be a good opportunity for us all to gather in a not too over formal fashion for an hour or two and take a look back at what we did in 2013 and what we want to be doing for this year so we can draw up some kind of plan for workdays, events and anything else.

Two dates have been pinned down for a possible meeting to be held at The Farrier PH (Brewer's Fayre), Harlaxton Road, Grantham.
Thursday 20 February 18:00- 20:00*
Saturday 1 March 14:00- 16:00
*Ian Keetley, or Volunteer Co-ordinator has expressed that he would be able to attend the Thursday meeting.

Could I please ask you to reply back to me asap (by Monday 17 February) as to wether you can attend such a meeting and on which day, be it one or both. Once I have your replies back a descion will be made as to a set date.

Volunteer Award

Not one to blow my own trumpet to much I guess it can be said that I have the great honour of being awarded the Sustrans East Midlands Volunteer of the Year after various public releases and of course with news from Ian Keetley in the first East Midlands volunteer newsletter.
It was a real surprise and quite humbling to have heard the announcement from Ian and it has been great to have heard so many messages of support and congratulations from those who have been in touch since the announcement.
I would just like to say a big thank you to you all for your time, dedication, hard graft (not to hard I hope) and loyalty towards getting a NCN network in the Grantham area I hope we can all be pretty proud off when we see so many use it when out and about whether in our own time or volunteering as a group, without you I am pretty sure such an award wouldn't have been.

Temporary Riverside Bridge Closure

The bridge work is now complete and re-opened on schedule to all riverside users.

The footpath/cycleway bridge over the River Witham located near College Street, Grantham is to be temporary closed by SKDC for 3 weeks to allow repairs and the replacement timber structures to take place. The closure period will start from Monday 24 February through to an expected end on Friday 14 March.

The cycleway up to the bridge from Bridge End Road will still be open but an alternative route to get to St. Catherine's Road would be needed, a possible diversion maybe to go College Street - Eton Street - Cambridge Street - Newton Street* - St. Catherine's Road.
*If coming from the south then you would need to walk into Newton Street when leaving Cambridge Street to proceed due to a no entry, although Newton Street is a two way street.
